Mentoring / Mentors
What Is A Mentor?
Sometimes we all go through a difficult spot in life and need someone to help us, encourage, motivate, listen, and simply be there for us.

While we may have family or friends who can fulfil this role, not everyone does. Sometimes having an external source from our social group can be a great way to sound off for a different opinion or perspective.

Here is where our mentors come in. We can be a port of call at the end of the phone when you are struggling and a go to person at the Sanctuary Gaming Café each Friday to hang out with and play games.
What level of support is available?
Currently, we have limited places for those who need more proactive weekly support outside of the Sanctuary Gaming Café. However, every Friday at the SGC, your assigned mentor will be there to give you the time you need as part of a group or in particular circumstances individually.

-
Group Mentor as part of Sanctuary Gaming Café membership.
-
Gaming buddy each Friday to ensure you have someone to socialise with.
-
Individual time on Friday nights if you need to talk.
-
Scheduled time on weekdays between 9 am - 5:30 pm when required to assist with any issues or problems you may have face to face in our offices or over the phone, video call.

This programme is still in its infancy, so we will be adapting it to the needs of those using the service in 2021 / 2022 to evaluate the support needed for the community in this area. We may add or subtract services throughout the programme to ensure we are fulfilling the role to our best abilities.
How to sign up?
Our mentoring programme is linked to the Sanctuary Gaming Café membership. You can click on the link below if this is of interest and sign up, after which you can speak to a member of our team about assigning a mentor and your requirements.

If you would like to speak to a member of our team first to make sure the programme is right for you and that we have spaces, you can call or email via the contact us page (see link below).

Please note our team are not professional Physiatrists, but have experience dealing with stress, anxiety, daily living problems, living with disabilities (physical and hidden) and have a compassionate ear. All face to face meetings are carried out in public areas (or with a witness) for your safety and peace of mind.
